Spring is in the air. It is time to get out of the house and enjoy a great movie with your friends or loved ones.

A great romantic comedy starring Jennifer Gardner in Arthur would be a great date movie. Get in the mood with this remake of the original Arthur and add in some modern twists. For example, if Arthur wants to keep his money, he has to marry a woman he does not love or lose it all to get the woman he loves. He has lessons in growing up and becoming a man!

If hot sexy, fantasy action is more your style, Sucker Punch will make you begging for more! A young girl name Baby Doll talks four girls into escaping with her. The special effects are mind blowing! From fighting serpents to samurais and everything in between, these hot sword wielding chicks have not lost their will to survive. Along their journey they run into a Wise Man to help them achieve their goal-escape at any cost.

2011 is going to be a great year for movie lovers. Do not forget Pirates 4 is coming out on May 20th. Get ready for some serious pirate action!

For many decades, people of all ages have enjoyed the experience of watching their favorite films with friends or family. Some people enjoy watching movies alone. Popcorn, soda, and candy are great accompaniments to enhance the movie watching experience. Whoever you decide to share your movie experience with, it is almost always an entertaining experience.

The different types of genres give way to entertainment for every person of any age. Family and animation are wonderful movies for the entire family while horror and suspense are commonly tailored towards more mature audiences. The great thing about movies is that there is a choice for every mood. A romantic comedy may enhance the mood when you are with a sweetheart, just as a comedy or action packed film may provide laughs and excitement when you’re with a group of friends.

Spring and summertime are an excellent time of year for new movies such as action packed films or sequels to hit movies. Many movie watchers flock to theatres to catch their favorite summertime blockbusters. Summertime is the perfect season for the entire family to get together and watch movies. A majority of these blockbusters are made for the whole family to enjoy.

New year, new you, same scene in Hollywood. Frankly, the pre-summer, post-holiday movie season is a little lackluster to spend too much time at the theater. In short, prepare for a lull that is to the movie viewers what soft-nonconference schedules are to college football/basketball fans. There will be plenty to see in theory, show times all day, but little worthy of shelling out 8 at the box office or 2 hours of your free time. Not to mention, with the Oscars in late February, all movies released too soon before or too soon after place themselves at a strategic disadvantage in terms of timeliness. Basically, if it hasn’t been released by now, it’s probably not going to rank among the year’s best. What can you do? The late winter months are a great time to watch movies at home, both avoiding theater flops and unsavory weather, not to mention catching up on films you may have missed on the big screen, but due to heightened demand for rentals, especially approaching Oscar season, it’s best to plan ahead. Here are some options:Redbox Found in many stores, including Walmarts nationwide, Redbox vending machines allow you to rent recent titles dating back several months for only 1 per night. Return your movie on time and a dollar is all it will cost you.Netflix With varying subscription plans, Netflix allows users to both order DVDs and take advantage of an instant streaming option with pricing available based on the number of discs rented at one time. The selection available for rent via disc is unparalleled; however, the Netflix instant options leave something to be desired, at least in this opinion.Movie Channels Premium programming options like HBO, Cinemax, Starz and Showtime allow for On Demand movie viewing as well as regular schedules featuring a wide variety of movies. These channels are generally available with an upgrade charge from your TV service provider, across a host of platforms, including Direct tv, Dish network and most cable companies.

What better time than Christmas to get the entire family together and head to the theater? Here’s a quick preview of top-billed titles opening from the 17th all the way up to Christmas, giving you something to talk about to fill in those awkward family silences around the dinner table. How Do You Know (in theaters December 17th) Reese Witherspoon, Paul Rudd, Jack Nicholson and Owen Wilson star in this laugh heavy self-exploration of what love looks like and how you know you’ve found the right person. Amid concerns of employment, legal issues, relationship drama, the film takes a light and humorous perspective on the pressures of transitioning from the young professional lifestyle into the next phase of adulthood.Yogi Bear (in theaters December 17th) A classic childhood cartoon finally transitions from the small screen to the big screen in this fun family comedy. With voices by Anna Faris, Dan Aykroyd, Justin Timberlake, Tom Cavanaugh and Andrew Daly, Yogi Bear reunites with old friend Boo Boo, up to familiar antics in Jellystone park.Tron: Legacy (in theaters December 17th) A sequel 28 years in the making, Tron legacy follows up the orgininal Tron film (1982), with Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner reprising their original roles, Tron is taken to the next generation in this sci-fi thriller. Joined in the cast by Olivia Wilde, Garret Hedlund, Michael Sheen and James Frain, Legacy is sure to pick up where the well-received original left off.Gulliver’s Travels (in theaters December 22nd) Jack Black may be short and stocky in this world, but as Gulliver he is quite simply larger than life, a shipwrecked journalist who finds himself on an island filled with miniature people and buildings. Based on Jonathan Swift’s original novel, Gulliver’s Travels is sure to bring anything but undersized laughs.Little Fockers (in theaters December 22nd) The third installment in the hilarious Meet the Parents series, Greg and Pam have decided to add new members to the family. With the always suspicious in-laws in town for the Holidays, a full house of dysfunction is an absolute certainty with Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Owen Wilson and Blythe Danner all reprising their original roles.True Grit (in theaters December 22nd) Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, Josh Brolin and Barry Pepper give John Wayne’s 1969 adaption a new whirl. In a take that sticks closely to the script of Charles Portis’ original work, enjoy this timeless Western from a fresh perspective, as a young girl accompanies a U.S. Marshall as they search for the man who killed her father in the Wild West.

These days, movies’ shelf lives are shorter than ever. Films that brought in big bucks last year are relatively forgotten now. However, their directors live on. Here’s what you can expect soon from some of last year’s wonder boys.

Gavin Hood Last year, his X-Men Origins: Wolverine adaptation didn’t go over so well with fanboys. However, his next film (slated for 2012?) may have a more universal appeal. It’s an untitled adventure film about the 1925 serum run to Nomealso portrayed in the children’s film Balto.

J.J. Abrams Star Trek, on the other hand, was a smash hit with both Trekkies and the average viewing audience. In addition to producing and possibly directing a 2012 sequel, Abrams produced the upcoming comedy Morning Glory and is directing the still-secretive Super 8.

Ron Howard Howard’s adaptation of Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons had just as many mixed reviews as its predecessor. His new film is a comedy (the first since 1999) called The Dilemma, previously known as Cheaters. It centers on the dilemma a man faces when he sees his friend’s wife cheating on him.

McG The succinctly-named director managed to turn what could have been a throwaway sequel into a moderate success with his Terminator: Salvation. He’s attached to a number of upcoming films, including This Means War (a spy comedy) and a film adaptation of the rock musical Spring Awakening.

Harold Ramis: Ramis’s contribution last summer was the Michael Cera/Jack Black comedy Year One. For his next film outing, however, he won’t be behind the camera, but in front of it. Ramis is returning as Dr. Egon Spengler in the 2012-planned Ghostbusters III.

With the box office topping successes of both Toy Story and Toy Story 2, Woody’s third return to the silver screen certainly has big cowboy boots to fill (figuratively of course). Story developers made the interesting choice to allow for the actual passage of time in the script between the third movie and its two predecessors, with former toy enthusiast Andy, the now longtime owner of both Woody and Buzz Lightyear, now seventeen years old and college bound, having little use for the toys of his childhood. Woody, Buzz and company have been bracing for this transition for some time, however when they are rounded up in a bag for storage, Andy’s mother mistakes them for garbage casting them out of Andy’s room and into the world on their own. Woody is unable to convince his fellow toys that they weren’t meant for the trash as the entire gang sets out for a new chapter in this already well chronicled playtime adventure. The script is very craftily written to make the motives and plotlines relevant and believable, despite the challenge of the long layoff between the second and third films. Obviously the first obstacle is justifying why any singular person would hang on to a chest full of toys for 15 years (since the original movie’s release in 1995). Instead of taking a Simpsons approach with characters that fail to age despite the developing world around them, writers seamlessly wove realistic developments into the story, things any kid turned young adult can relate to at a transitional time in one’s life. In doing so, Toy Story 3 becomes a movie not only for young fans, but the teenage and 20something year old fans of old. Equally impressive, the movie was able to talk almost all of the familiar big star voices into reprising their roles as well. Though it may have been more than a decade since the franchise saw its previous movie released, Toy Story’s latest production simply doesn’t miss a beat and is a must see for fans everywhere.

Twenty three years in waiting and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 80s classic finally has a worthy sequel. Original Predator fans will be pleased to know the failed follow up sequels to the franchise’s early success are ignored like veal at a PETA convention. Producer Robert Rodriguez and director Nimrod Antal stressed their desire to take the series back to its roots, believing the Alien vs. Predator movie gimmick had portrayed the predator species as too cartoonish, undermining the suspense filled violence and action that made Predator a fan favorite. The script for Predators was actually first drafted in 1994, however 20th Century Film reneged their original interest in the idea once the sizeable budget figures surfaced. A full fifteen years later, the studio came around on the idea out of the blue and contacted Rodriguez to fast track the movie for production. Though Fox revived life in the lost script, Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios produced the film, in order to maintain more creative control and avoid another flop for the franchise, with Fox still in charge of distribution.Though the script was originally written in 1994 and the first movie is now of legal drinking age, the new film takes place in modern day, not attempting to recreate or imitate any late 80s to mid 90s cinematic staples. However, the movie does pay subtle homage to its namesake both on-screen and in dialogue. The story is set around a ragtag group of killers from various native countries and walks of life, all of whom enter a jungle after a flash of light and a subsequent free fall. The unlucky gang of misfits soon discovers they are stuck in an alien game preserve, hunted by the predators species for amusement and bloodlust. Using their lethal talents to play defense as opposed to offense for the first time, the group must ban together to survive in this kill-or-be-killed blockbuster.

Though the initial reviews for this summer thrill ride have sent mixed signals, perhaps this movies biggest fault is that it didn’t come out 5 years ago. Heck, there was a time in Hollywood when a series of home gardening tips documentary hosted by the A-list royalty might have pushed its way towards number one on opening weekend. Whether modern audiences aren’t as easily seduced by star power (doubtful) or Cruise and Diaz have just past their peak, Knight and Day simply isn’t living up to its billing as a true summer blockbuster. In and of itself, the movie isn’t half as bad as advertised. The key to enjoying the film is managing your expectations. What you can expect is a light, fast paced and ultimately enjoyable flick that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Don’t buy your ticket expecting a deeply intense undercover spy suspense or a romping laugh fest, but that’s not to say don’t buy your ticket. This is Tom Cruise in an action movie, but it isn’t Mission Impossible; and while we have Cameron Diaz playing an affable girl with a complicated love interest, this is no There’s Something About Mary. And it’s certainly no mind burning exercise like Vanilla Sky, starring both. Whether you’re a fan of Cruise or Diaz, both are still capable of delivering exactly what these roles call for. To get the most out of your movie going, just sit back, relax and enjoy the film’s likable quality, without thinking too deeply about the logistics.Cruise plays Roy Miller, a typically charming secret agent, caught up in a complicated ordeal somewhere between the CIA, FBI and common sense. June Havens, Diaz’s character, is what appears to be an everyday girl caught up in the ensuing madness, simultaneously terrified, excited and amused by the twists and turns the adventure takes. Struggling to balance truth against trust, the pair chooses to stick together to survive, ironically not unlike their movie careers, which seem to be winding down as people lose interest with each passing film.
